The Big Data and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory Inaugurated in Our Faculty

Under the scientific, academic, and technological cooperation protocol signed between our university and INTERPROBE, the Big Data and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory was inaugurated.

The opening ceremony was attended by our Rector Prof. Dr. Musa Yıldız, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Ramazan Bayındır, Vice Dean and Acting Dean Prof. Dr. Filiz Derekaya, Vice Dean Assoc. Dr. Mehmet Feyzi Akşahin, Head of the Computer Engineering Department Prof. Dr. Şeref Sağıroğlu, Chairman of the Board of PAVO Group Dr. Alper Özbilen, and INTERPROBE General Manager Göksu Gürkaş, as well as the President of the Turkish Language Association Prof. Dr. Osman Mert, Deputy General Manager of ASELSAN Dr. Taha Yücel, SEM Director Prof. Dr. Şerife Büyükköse, General Manager of BK Mobil İsrafil Dilmeç, General Manager of BiSoft Serdar Güler, General Manager of Başarı Mobil Osman Sezgi, General Manager of DeepZeka Dr. Saadin Oyucu, General Manager of Tekin Energy Ertuğrul Tekin, EMO Ankara Branch Board Member Bugra Ayan, Head of the Software Engineering Department Erdal Bekiroğlu, Head of the Chemical Engineering Department Fatih Akkurt, and faculty members.

After the ribbon-cutting, the Big Data and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory was officially opened. In his speech at the opening, the Head of the Computer Engineering Department, Prof. Dr. Şeref Sağıroğlu, expressed his great satisfaction with the inauguration of the laboratory. Prof. Dr. Şeref Sağıroğlu emphasized that such support, which is an important example of university-industry cooperation, significantly contributes to the development of the educational quality of universities and is crucial for conducting studies in the ever-evolving world of big data and artificial intelligence.

INTERPROBE General Manager Göksu Gürkaş explained their main objectives in opening the laboratory: “To operate this laboratory, use its outputs in their projects and industry, and contribute to the country's technological development and innovation.”

PAVO Group Chairman Dr. Alper Özbilen, an alumnus of Gazi University Faculty of Engineering, stated that this opening was of great personal importance to him. Dr. Alper Özbilen expressed his strong interest in big data and artificial intelligence and said they aimed to contribute to the academic and field knowledge of students interested in these topics through this laboratory.

Vice Dean Prof. Dr. Filiz Derekaya mentioned that the Faculty of Engineering places great importance on research activities and expressed their happiness with the opening of the laboratory. Derekaya stated that the outputs of this laboratory would greatly contribute to the educational quality of the Faculty and thanked those who contributed to the opening of the laboratory.

ASELSAN Deputy General Manager Dr. Taha Yücel highlighted the critical importance of the laboratory’s opening in terms of being able to compete globally and producing pioneering products. Dr. Taha Yücel concluded his speech by wishing success.

The President of the Turkish Language Association Prof. Dr. Osman Mert stated that as an institution, they try to participate in studies on big data and artificial intelligence. Prof. Dr. Osman Mert emphasized that they would not hesitate to support the studies in the field of big data and artificial intelligence to be conducted within our university and expressed their readiness to utilize the resources of the Turkish Language Association for this purpose.

Our Rector Prof. Dr. Musa Yıldız expressed his great happiness with the opening of the Big Data and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory. Prof. Dr. Musa Yıldız stated that our university is a research university and that the activities of this laboratory would greatly contribute to the research university identity of our institution. Our Rector Prof. Dr. Musa Yıldız thanked Prof. Dr. Şeref Sağıroğlu, Göksu Gürkaş, and Dr. Alper Özbilen for their contributions to the opening of the laboratory.

The ceremony ended with the presentation of plaques and a group photo.
